Professor Roberto Maia was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he grew up training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu alongside his cousins, the world renowned Gracies, who developed the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. A Fifth degree black belt, he is the highest ranking practitioner of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in New England. Professor Maias life is dedicated to the advancement and continual development of the art through quality instruction at every level and through building a sense of community and family among those who train together.

We offer classes for anyone over 4YO, each with its own curriculum designed to foster fitness and coordination, while incorporating discussion of good values such as self-discipline, kindness, positive attitude, and good nutrition. The multi-age, multi level class structure fosters leadership and teaching as well.

Is Jiu Jitsu Safe?
Above everything else, the primary focus of Boston BJJ is to prevent injury while training. There is no higher goal or greater concern than the safety of all students. While physical injuries can occur in any sport or physical activity, these occurrences drastically reduce if each participant takes the appropriate responsibilities. This is especially true in the martial arts.

Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to any scheduled class.

Check in at front desk prior to each class:

Absolutely no shoes on the mat
